James Shenton graduated from Seale Hayne in 1992. He spent a year working in ruminant nutrition before joining the Milk Marketing Board as a Consulting officer. He became part of the national training team responsible for training and development of new consultants. In 2004 he joined up with Gerard Finnan and developed the Sherborne office of FCG.
In 2014, Phil Cooper took over from James as director of the Sherborne Office allowing him to concentrate on the part of the business he most enjoys, one to one consultancy with farming businesses.
He specialises in dairy nutrition from a high yield from forage perspective. He works with both grazing based systems and high yield conserved forage systems. He has worked with A.M.S units improving nutrition and milk quality.
James has also been involved with preparing many contract farming and joint ventures. He has a particular interest in succession planning for family farms.
James also has a stock and arable farm.
