Following the recent deadline for the most recent round of Growth grant funding, the Gloucester office noticed a very high demand and number of applications. We have completed expressions of interest for over £5 million worth of grant funding for a wide range of businesses and projects, both for farming and non-farming businesses. A range of the grants applied for include; a garden centre applying for improved infrastructure and a coffee shop, a butchers applying for a new sausage making machine, a rural fabricator applying for funding to put up a new workshop, a farming business applying for funding towards a large scale farm and adventure park, a farming business applying for funding to convert a range of redundant buildings to accommodate a new cooking class, restaurant, wedding and accommodation venue, a 250 cow dairy farmer applying for specialist equipment to help manage a new 200 acre Christmas tree plantation and a business looking to extend and convert unused commercial space into a large scale 50,000 sqm business park.
The range of applications submitted shows the huge potential that Brexit will offer given the change coming around the corner and the positive mood from many businesses which is a pleasant change to the backdrop of Brexit fears and the ever louder vegan voice. It is essential that planning permission is in place before a full grant application is applied for and to secure match funding.
