The Government’s self-employed support scheme (SEISS) has re-launched, with an end date of 19th October. The good thing about it is that it is a grant, not a loan. Applicants must have been adversely affected by the pandemic since 14th July. While this may not affect many dairy farmers, it may well be applicable to those who have diversified businesses, or businesses separate from the farm.
This may well include many farms these days, as the impetus for adding business strings to your dairy farming bow has been so high in recent years. Those operating farm shops/cafes, wedding venues and farm parks are clear examples of businesses who are still being adversely affected. The grant arrives quickly, and it is paid out for all partners in a multi-partner business, at a maximum of £6,570 per partner.
